Video: Jonathan & Alex Acoustic at Stepping Stones

We were delighted to be asked to write something about Stepping Stones Festival recently (see our post here) and can now share some videos from Jonathan and Alex’s very special acoustic performance last Saturday afternoon.  They played a great selection of old and new songs:

  • Regret
  • To The Blade
  • Undrowned
  • Final Form
  • Tin (The Manhole)
  • No Reptiles
  • Photoshop Handsome
  • Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread
  • Distant Past

EE fan Rachel was sat in the front row and was able to record three of the songs which you can watch below:

Gig Report: Love Saves The Day

As one of Everything Everything’s more mature fans, I went far out of my comfort zone and braved Bristol dance music festival ‘Love Saves The Day’ in order to catch the band’s hour-long slot, just before the Saturday headliners Hot Chip!  It was well worth it though as I got a great spot on the barrier in front of Alex and had a fantastic time enjoying EE’s first festival set of the year.  As appropriate for a festival that mostly featured up-tempo electronic dance music and DJ sets, the band’s set featured their most energetic and sing-along tunes.  Blast Doors was the perfect opening song, grabbing the crowd’s attention and setting the tone for what was to follow.  Energy levels were kept high with songs including Kemosabe, MY KZ, YR BF, Get To Heaven, Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread, Regret and Don’t Try.  The crowd were really enthusiastic and enjoyed dancing and singing along.  No Reptiles went down really well, as it always does, and they finished with the ideal festival set closer, Distant Past!

I took a few photos which I’ve posted in an album on the ATB Facebook page but here are a few of my favourites:

Festival Feature: Stepping Stones

Everything Everything are playing lots of small UK festivals during the summer months but one in particular will promise a very special experience for their fans.  Set in the grounds of Kirklinton Hall, near Carlisle in North Cumbria, Stepping Stones Festival will celebrate its 5th year during the weekend of 10th-12th June 2016.  Fans may recall that Jonathan and Michael grew up in Cumbria and Northumberland and this festival has a family connection as Jonathan’s Mum is one of the organisers!

Jonathan and Alex will be performing an exclusive acoustic set which is something you won’t see anywhere else this year. They’re scheduled to appear on the main stage at 4.15pm on Saturday 11th June and other main acts over the weekend include the legendary Steeleye Span and well known westcountry acoustic roots duo Show Of Hands.  The festival is only expected to have a maximum capacity of 400 people so it really will be a rare opportunity to see Alex and Jonathan playing up close, not to mention possibly catching them for a chat at the bar before or after their set!

Tickets for the whole weekend (which includes all the music and all the other events and activities) are just £70 per adult, full day tickets are £40 and single main stage concert tickets are £25.  Any adult ticket (weekend/day/single concert) admits up to 2 Under 16s for free, which has to make this one of the best value festival deals around!  Camping is available on site for £5 a person (tent or campervan) and Under 12s are free.
